Wakey Bang

Pistol design, 2018

This project involves designing a pistol, not as a weapon, but as a tool to create surprising and unexpected effects. While traditional pistols frighten people with their functionality and sound, I wanted to reinterpret this concept into something that astonishes users in a playful and non-threatening way.

The inspiration came from my personal struggle as a heavy sleeper. I always feel the need for more sleep, and my difficult mornings became the starting point for this idea. To wake myself up, I used to tap my head with my hand, which was effective but unnecessarily painful. This led me to explore alternative ways to stimulate my senses and wake up without causing discomfort.

I developed the idea of using sensations such as tickling, stinging, and vibrating to gently stimulate the senses. The result is a pistol that incorporates a vibrating system and specially designed bullets with various stimulating functions. When the trigger is pulled, the bullet is released with a vibration, delivering a different, mildly irritating sensation each time.

This design offers a fun and innovative way to wake up, replacing painful methods with an engaging experience. Even on the most exhausting mornings, this playful tool can transform waking up into something entertaining and less harsh.
