The Slice
Conceptual jewelry design, 2017
The Slice is a conceptual jewelry collection inspired by cross-sections. Every material reveals a unique cross-section pattern when sliced, often entirely distinct from its exterior appearance. Fascinated by this contrast, I began exploring new patterns and textures using paper. Through experiments with cardboard—rolling, shaping, and slicing—I discovered intriguing patterns and forms that emerged when it was cut in half. The results varied greatly depending on the color of the cardboard and the cutting technique, creating diverse visual moods.
Building on these findings, I developed two distinct concepts from the same methodology. These concepts, named "Natural" and "Artificial," demonstrate the versatility and broad applicability of this approach.
