Definitely not boxes

Sleeping place project, 2018

In today’s society, sleep is often regarded as an indulgence, forcing people to feel guilty about something as natural as resting in the bedroom. Some even frame sleep as a character flaw, despite the fact that daytime sleepiness signals a lack of sleep, not a lack of discipline. As someone living in this "sleep-deprived society," I wanted to create a safe space for naps in public areas.

I focused on overlooked spaces—places deemed useless and often ignored, such as spots cluttered with dummy boxes. “Definitely Not Boxes” mimics the appearance of trivial boxes that easily blend into their surroundings, staying out of people’s attention. These transformable boxes provide sleepy users with a cozy, private space to take a nap, redefining these hidden corners into areas of rest and comfort.
